Sustainability

Eltham Primary School is proud to engage in quality conversations, and practical solutions, regarding sustainability. Sustainable concepts are incorporated within our curriculum, especially within our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. The importance of sustainability to the EPS culture is reflected in the Student Sustainability Team who drive many of our initiatives.

Eltham Primary School is an active participant of the ResourceSmart Schools program. ResourceSmart Schools is a free program offered by Sustainability Victoria that supports Victorian schools to embed sustainability across the school facilities, community and curriculum, while saving resources and money for the school. Accordingly, Eltham Primary School has a ResourceSmart Schools sub-committee composed of staff, parents and our student leaders.

The Sustainability Sub-Committee has generated a vision statement to guide the work we are doing, and will continue to do, at our school. We are excited to share the vision statement with our community.

Sustainability Vision Statement:

The Eltham Primary School community is a connected community.
We are motivated to make a positive difference, where our choices support the learning of lifelong sustainable skills.
We understand that local action influences global outcomes.
We respect the biodiversity within our unique Nillumbik environment.
