Welcome to Eltham Primary School
There is something special about being part of a school where people know one another. Not just a great school…a great school community.
At Eltham Primary, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. As a relatively small school, we have the opportunity to know our students and families well—to understand who they are, how they learn, what matters to them and what they need to flourish. We believe that when children feel known, valued and connected, they are better able to learn, take risks, develop confidence and become life-long, resilient learners.
This understanding shapes our approach to teaching and learning. Our teachers combine strong relationships with contemporary, evidence-informed practice, using assessment, observation and their knowledge of individual students to determine what each child needs next. We are ambitious for every student and continually ask: what will make the greatest difference for this child?
But Eltham Primary is more than what happens in classrooms. We are a genuine community, where families contribute their time, skills and energy through volunteering, School Council, community events, programs and activities. Our community gives generously of its time, knowledge and energy because people understand that a great school is something we build together.
Our values of Learning, Connectedness and Resilience reflect what we hope our students take with them: confidence as learners, strong relationships with others and the capacity to meet challenge and change.
We are proud of our school because we combine leading approaches to teaching and learning with something equally important—a deep knowledge of the children we teach and the community to which they belong.
If you are considering Eltham Primary for your child, I invite you to come and experience our school for yourself.
At Eltham Primary, we believe great learning begins with knowing people well—and that a great school is one we create together.
